1985/86
Caernarfon Borough FC was formed in 1985/86 and played their home games at 'Cae Top'. The manager was Meirion Williams
and the committee consisted of Harry Mathews, Michael Edwards (Post Bach) and Gwyn Jones. The top picture on the right
(apologies for lack of quality) shows the manager and the committee members being presented with Boro's first ever kit from
then Palace Vaults owners, Mr and Mrs Steven Stuhfelder. The kit was to be the home colours of white shirts, black shorts
and socks.
Boro found the going tough in their first year and finished bottom of the Caernarfon & District League with a playing
record of:
P22 W3 D3 L17 F35 A96 Pts7
Top scorer for the season was Martin John Hughes with 6 (yes, 6).
__________
1986/87
Meirion Williams continued at the helm, though Boro had now moved to their new home at Aber Forshore (Dros
Aber). They made a vast improvement in their second season by finishing in the top half of the table and earning the
club its first piece of silverware. Boro beat Penrhyn 4 - 1 to lift the Wil Evans Cup.
Top scorers for the season were:
Jamie Richardson 17, Billy Bromley 12, Gerald Thomas 7.
__________
1987/88
There was a change of manager in October of this season as Gerald Parry took over from Meirion Williams. Boro
went on to retain the Wil Evans Cup by beating Llanrug Utd in the final. (We would like to hear from anyone who knows the
final score or has photos of this game.)
Top scorers at the end of this season were: Martin Bohana 15, Phil Warrington 9, Peter Thomas 3.
__________
1988/89
Gerald Parry continued as manager with Geraint Williams as assistant. Boro established themselves as
a force in this season by finishing as runners up - a mere 1 point behind eventual champions, Llanrug Utd Res.
It just goes to show what a staggering performance it was when Boro beat the league champions 7 - 0 in the
final of the Wil Evans Cup to win it for the third year running. On the scoresheet were Billy Bromley (3), Jamie Richardson
(3), and Peter Thomas.
They also collected the Moorings Cup by beating Llanbedrog & Dist 4 - 1 in the final. Ernie Talbot (2),
Dylan Rowlands and Euryn (Bwji) Owen, the scorers.
Top scorers for the season were: Jamie Richardson 37, Billy Bromley 13, Peter Thomas 11, Dylan Rowlands 7.
Take a look at the paper clipping on the right to see what an amazing season this was.
__________
1989/90
Boro went on to join the Gwynedd League in this season as well as running a Reserves side in the Caernarfon
& District. The 1st team's home kit colour had now changed to yellow shirts and socks, with green shorts. This was due
to a new kit sponsorship by S4C's leading sports programme, Sgorio.
It was to be a very successful debut season in the higher league as Boro finished 5th. The figures at
the end of the season stood at:
P24 W10 D6 L8 F50 A44 Pts26
Top scorers for the season were: Steve (Twinks) Tindall 15, Jamie Richardson 10, Kevin Morgan 9.
__________
1990/91
Gerald Parry and Geraint Williams were still running Boro's first team in the Gwynedd League. But there
was to be no repeat of any of their past success in the side's second spell at this level. It turned out to be a tough
season and they could only finish mid table. This was highlighted when none of the players managed to reach double figures
in the goals tally. Top scorers were: Mark Smith 7, Huw Geraint 6, Iwan Roberts 6.
At the end of this season Boro sadly disbanded due to lack of committee members.
__________
1993/94
This year saw Boro reform and rejoin the Caernarfon & District League. They were now managed by Glyn (Pin)
Griffiths and had a new kit sponsored by Bwcis y Ddraig Goch. The home kit had now changed its colours once again to blue
and white shirts, white shorts and blue socks.
Boro were back on the scene with a bang as they marched on to the League title and also taking the
Deanfield Cup. They beat Nefyn in the final, with Andrew (Ange) Craig (2), Jamie Richardson, John Andrew Jones, Terry (Mattie)
Jones and an o.g making up the 6 - 1 scoreline.
An amazing statistic in Boro's record books lies here, with Steve (Twinks) Tindall recording a phenomenal
57 goals in this single season. There was also a hefty contribution from Tim (Josy) Roberts with 29, and Terry (Mattie)
Jones with 22 goals.
David Bohana won the Players Player of the Year trophy while Neil Elias won the Club's Player of the
Year.
__________
1994/95
With Boro having again been promoted to the Gwynedd League, Ken (Slei) Owens takes over as manager. It turned
out to be another solid performance in all and they finished 6th in the table.
Top scorers for the season: Jamie Richardson 10, Michael (Chips) Williams 8, Gerald Thomas 8.
__________
1995/96
Ken 'Snail' Jones now takes over as manager and the home kit changes to all green with Carlesberg being
the new sponsors. It turned out to be a tough season for Boro and finish just one place off the foot of the table.
Leading scorers were Geraint (Olive) Jones 13, Terry (Mattie) Jones 7, Jamie Richardson 6.
Players Player of the Year went to Jason Joyce
Club Player of the Year went to Jonathan Jarvis
The club did end up with one trophy for the season - and that was the Gwynedd League Quiz winners! The team
was Rock, Neil (Ducks) Elias, Jamie Richardson and Joe Bach.
__________
1996/97
Ken (Slei) Owens returns for his 2nd spell as manger. Boro seem to be back on track as they finish the
season in 3rd place.
Veteran striker John Hayes finished as top scorer for the season with 28 goals. Geraint (Olive) Jones bagged
24 and Jason Joyce 15.
This season saw Boro go on a terrific run in the North Wales Coast Challenge Cup. There were giant killings
along the way:
Rd1 Felinheli 1-3 Boro
Rd2 Llangefni 0-1 Boro
Rd3 Boro 2-1 Denbigh Town
Rd4 Boro 3-3 Cemaes bay (AET)
Boro lost on penalties
Sadly Boro disbanded once again due to a lack of committee members and didn't reform again
until the summer of 2003.
